Man Found Deceased in Tent in Downtown Burien

View at Twitter

Breaking

Friday morning, witnesses say a homeless man was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in his tent. Right now there is a crush of police in downtown Burien near Umqua Bank on SW 152nd St. All the data shows these encampments attract crime and drug activity. Yet King County Executive Dow Constantine won’t allow his deputies to clear these situations. At the very least, get these men and women into addiction treatment or detox if you are going to play politics with their lives. I shot footage of the encampment earlier this week.

Earlier This Month

Earlier this month, there was another drug OD death in downtown Burien. Mayor Kevin Schilling blasted former Burien CM Cydney Moore for advising the homeless to stay on the streets and torched Constantine over the lawsuit preventing deputies from enforcing the camping ordinance.

Power Play

Overnight in Burien, a homeless man was seen rolling around and totally whacked out of his mind. No one at this downtown encampment seemed to care.

At what point does King County Executive Dow Constantine (@kcexec) put aside his pride, drop the lawsuit against this city, and recognize his petty politics are hurting people on the streets?

Dow is preventing deputies from clearing encampments and these men and women are not being helped. Everything is at a standstill because of his power play.

At the Sheriff’s Office

Look what’s going on right next to the King County Sheriff’s Office HQ in Burien. It’s a free for all. Totally lawless. Many business owners and neighbors say King County Executive Dow Constantine’s personal vendetta against the city is causing a public safety crisis. He won’t allow deputies to enforce the homeless camping ordinance. Drug addicts from Seattle and other parts of South King County are moving in right now.
