Seattle Hoses Down Little Saigon Streets

Drive By The current plan to address the mayhem and crime in Seattle’s Little Saigon neighborhood appears to be regular hose downs of the streets. But it’s not a permanent solution. One neighbor sent me video showing the hoard of drug users who come back after sunset. Mayor Bruce Harrell, what’s the plan for the evening hours?

Drug Addiction Overtakes Street Corners in Seattle’s Chinatown

New Parts of downtown Seattle and Chinatown-ID are on life support. Drug addicts and criminals have taken over entire street corners. Look at the situation on the ground right now in Little Saigon. It’s devastating this Asian American community. That’s why today, the Stay Out of Drug Areas (SODA) and Stay Out of Areas of Prostitution (SOAP) ordinances will be in front of the full Council for a final vote. If enforced properly, these could be game changers. Neighbors and business owners hope common sense prevails. And just to be clear, what you are seeing on the streets is NOT an affordable housing issue. This is ALL being fueled by hard-core drug addiction. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. Meanwhile, the Downtown Seattle Association installed fencing to prevent drug addicts from using the alleyways. Without Cops on Patrol, Little Saigon Drug Use and Sale of Stolen Goods Come Back to Life

That Didn’t Take Long Tuesday afternoon, 12th Ave & Jackson St was clear. The open air drug use was gone. No more sales of stolen merchandise. Actually saw a clean sidewalk. But by sunset, it was back to business as usual at this notorious intersection in Seattle’s Little Saigon neighborhood. The common denominator, no more cops on patrol at night. Btw, a lot of the hustlers now use baby strollers to transport stolen merch and drugs. They say it puts people at ease and cops are less likely to check. Why didn’t I think of that? The one lone bright spot, volunteers with Mosaic Church feeding some of the fellas and providing supplies. They come out here every Tuesday night.
