Here We Go Again

Ari Hoffman (@thehoffather) first to report on a NEW RV encampment expanding on the former Burger King, 7-11, and Baskin Robbins parking lot off S. Rainier Ave. So sad that south #Seattle is losing vital businesses in this already underserved neighborhood. Numerous shops like Grease Monkey (@GreaseMonkeyInt) already left because of crime, shootings, and homeless related issues. Squatters have caused fires and continue to take over these abandoned properties in the city.

They know city has limited power to remove them. It’s on the owner of this lot to properly fence it off. At the very least, city should be enforcing this requirement already on the books. Where is Councilmember Tammy Morales (@CMTammyMorales?) She was supposed to prevent this from happening again. Savanah Hernandez (@sav_says_) look at what’s happened to the Burger King lot you featured earlier this year! Total disaster. By the way, look how this current crew is powering their encampment. WAIT FOR IT.

Urban Blight

This stretch of Rainier Ave may be cursed. This community of color is Asian, Black, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, and packed with so many other hard working immigrants. Why are city leaders like @CMTammyMorales allowing this urban decay? #Seattle

Back in February

Savanah Hernandez (@sav_says_) with this hot-take and on the ground coverage before Burger King (@BurgerKing) dealing with the squatter takeover was eventually demolished. #Seattle

It’s All Upside Down

Before being demolished earlier this year, former Burger King (@BurgerKing) property on Rainier Ave S. was being used by homeless squatters. There was an encampment in the drive-thru. Let that sink in. #Seattle

Keep Showing the Inconvenient Truths

Ari Hoffman (@thehoffather) first spotted this and documented the unfolding issue. It’s now on the city and landlord to respond. Where’s Marc Dones and @KC_RHA? #Seattle
