Tragic Discovery

Earlier this week, We Heart Seattle (@weheartseattle) found a dead homeless man in his vehicle on 3rd Ave in SODO during a routine welfare check. I was there when they pulled his body. Volunteers suspect the guy could have been there for weeks. The city was supposed to tow the vehicle. But sources on the ground say another homeless man is now living in the van.

This encampment is minutes from the stadiums and was looking pristine for the MLB All-Star game this past summer. Now the tents and RV’s are back. So is the crime and open air drug use.

When will Councilmember Tammy Morales (@CMTammyMorales) make this the top priority in her district? Once again, this is not an affordable housing problem. What do you do when the same men and women reject shelter/services, and choose the streets? Just leave them there? When will city leaders intervene? This is not compassion.
