Homeless Man Assaults Officer, Causes Chaos Under Seattle Bridge Friday Evening

8:41 pm — Friday night spectacle in downtown Seattle as dozens of law enforcement officers are engaged in a standoff with a homeless man who allegedly assaulted a cop. Witnesses say the fella went on a bender and also threw debris on I-5. He’s now hiding under the Boren Ave bridge.

Taser Attempted and Failed

8:57 pm — Sun is setting and the homeless dude is hunkering down under the Boren Ave bridge. Unclear why all these officers aren’t going in there to smoke him out. But a cop on scene just told me dude showed a knife. Taser was deployed but that did not work either.

Negotiations

9:20 pm — It appears we are getting closer. The officers have moved in and are now negotiating with the homeless man under the Boren Ave bridge in downtown Seattle.

9:33 pm — Homeless man arrested under Boren Ave bridge in downtown Seattle Friday evening after standoff that started around 5pm. Authorities say dude threw a Lime bike and debris at moving vehicles and assaulted a cop. Officer was not seriously injured.

9:47 pm — Here’s the latest from Washington State Patrol on this standoff with a homeless man. Authorities say he was throwing debris on I-5 in downtown Seattle and then assaulted a cop. No serious injuries. Just another routine Friday evening in the Emerald City.
