San Francisco: A Shoplifting Paradise

Unable to Intervene San Francisco: A Shoplifting Paradise for the homeless. I visited San Francisco to document the homelessness crisis and witnessed some of the most blatant shoplifting I’ve ever seen. Every store I entered, someone was actively stealing while security guards stood by, often appearing unable or unwilling to intervene. Shoplifters Openly Admit to Theft I interviewed several shoplifters afterward. Nearly all admitted they steal because they believe nobody will stop them. Only two said they planned to eat the food they took. Most intended to resell the merchandise. Hands Tied California treats theft under $950 as a misdemeanor, and many offenders clearly see that as a green light. Store employees and security guards repeatedly told me their hands Read More ›

Cops on the Scene Bellevue cops are on the scene at the QFC supermarket in the Crossroads neighborhood. Witnesses say a drunk Hispanic male wearing a black jacket caused a disturbance Wednesday evening and tried to steal a case of beer. Cops just arrested him on the spot. Store workers say they deal with thefts every single day and most of the suspects do not live in the city. There are also reports of many illegals living in this part of Bellevue. I have no doubt @EROSeattle already knows about this.

This Happens Daily I just confronted a homeless fentanyl addict ransacking the Target store inside the Bellevue Marketplace at Factoria. I watched him fill his cart with stolen items and walk out. Seattle’s Community Assisted Suicide Policies Are Killing the Homeless

Last month the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the rights of cities to enforce common sense laws which prohibit the homeless from sleeping in public spaces, such as parks or sidewalks where children play or families walk. It's almost absurd that the Court was forced to expend its limited resources adjudicating a controversy over whether such laws should be constitutional. Read More ›

The Dirty Little Secret About Homelessness Is the Key to Ending It

The US Supreme Court recently heard oral arguments about what cities can and cannot do to end homelessness. What everyone agreed on was that homelessness is a difficult problem. I think most people listening to the Supreme Court would agree: it isn’t going to solve homelessness. That is a job for state legislators. So why haven’t they? Why has homelessness gotten worse?
