New Year, same problems in Seattle’s Chinatown-ID. The open air drug use and thriving black market of stolen goods is worse than ever. Over the weekend, cops cleared the streets several times. But all the madness is now back. Rinse and repeat. Expect more mom-and-pop businesses to exit the CID this year. Neighbors are also asking why elected officials, including Mayor Bruce Harrell, are allowing this marginalized community to become the city’s human dumping ground. The mayor remains MIA and the Asian American community is losing confidence in his leadership. Meanwhile, Tammy Morales quit on District 2 and officially exits the council this week. Her colleagues have until January 20 to find a replacement.

Little Saigon in Chinatown-ID is absolutely broken. It remains Seattle’s worst drug scene. Making matters worse, all the insanity of 3rd Ave & Pike St. has been pushed into this Asian American neighborhood. Seattle Fire crews are constantly responding to fentanyl OD’s and mental health disasters continue to play out in the streets. Mayor Bruce Harrell’s Downtown Activation Plan is not working here. Councilmember Tammy Morales remains MIA. Mom & pop businesses continue to flee. Social media influencer Nick Shirley is in the city this weekend to document it all.

Notice how 3rd Ave & Pike St in downtown Seattle is relatively clear of drug addicts and crime? Well, this proves once again change is possible if the city wants to get things done. Problem is, most of the problems have been pushed into Chinatown-ID. I recently caught up with Councilmember Tanya Woo who’s been sounding the alarm about this unfair game of Whack-A-Mole destroying her Asian American community. And with this week’s stabbing rampage in the CID, it proves once again she was right.

Lining Up One of the longest lines I have ever seen to enter Seattle Council Chambers. Neighbors and biz owners who support the SODA/SOAP bills are here to support laws that could help curb open air drug use and prostitution by creating “no-go zones.” But most of the people here are the usual far-left activists opposed to the legislation. New Another violent incident in Seattle’s Little Saigon hood right in front of Hoa Mai Park. Authorities say two men got into an argument Friday afternoon and one of them pulled out a pistol and fired shots into the air. No one was hit but they both took off running. Councilmember Woo Calls for Action Councilmember Tanya Woo issued a statement about Wednesday’s shooting near the corner of 12th Ave & Jackson St in Little Saigon. Stay Out of Drug Area (SODA) Seattle leaders want to wipe out the open-air drug dens and black markets of stolen goods that are thriving in certain parts of the city. Will it work? New Legislation:“Stay Out of Drug Area (SODA) – authorizes the court to prohibit a defendant from entering a designated zone if they commit a drug-related criminal offense in that zone. SODA orders may be issued by the court either as a condition of pre-trial release, or a condition of sentence if convicted.”

NEW Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison just introduced aggressive public safety legislation to address the open-air drug dens in parts of downtown. The zones would be called a “Stay Out of Drug Area (SODA)” which includes the notorious 3rd Ave & Pike St. If anyone commits a drug related offense in that area, they won’t be able to come back. Meanwhile, the Downtown Seattle Association installed fencing to prevent drug addicts from using the alleyways.
