Dow Constantine Dodging Questions

Dow Constantine Dodges Tough Questions About Chinatown Homeless Megaplex

Exclusive Earlier today, @kcexec dodged my questions about the HOMELESS MEGAPLEX he’s trying to RAM through #Seattle. #Chinatown-ID is begging him to put a moratorium on project until public comments are gathered. This is a TOP 3 story in the city. We need more MEDIA on this. Questions I Was Trying to Ask 1) Since you did not hold a public comment period or consult #Chinatown-ID, why not PAUSE this project until input can be gathered? 2) What’s your public safety plan? Recently #Seattle‘s Interim Police Chief Adrian Diaz expressed concerns. More Questions 3) When are you going to personally FACE questions from #Chinatown-ID residents? 4) Are you aware many in #Chinatown-ID say your homeless policies are racist against Asian Read More ›

King County Attempts to Fast Track Homeless Megaplex in Chinatown

More Evidence Last week as #Chinatown International District prepared to protest against @kcexec‘s HOMELESS MEGAPLEX, Dow’s representative essentially asked @KCCouncil permission to FAST TRACK project by doing away with COMPETITIVE bidding process on construction. Outrage Community advocate Matt Chan (@Lofanland) is a former special advisor to @MayorofSeattle. Chan says it’s evident @kcexec is trying to push his HOMELESS MEGAPLEX through without #Chinatown-ID community input. Even some @KCCouncil are now questioning the process. More Protests Tues Sept.13, #Chinatown-ID will confront @KCCouncil as members consider voting on request from @kcexec to fast track HOMELESS MEGAPLEX. They’re demanding answers from @JoeMcDermottWA who sponsored project. Will he show in person? Details. Holding the Line #Chinatown-ID held massive rally to say HOMELESS MEGAPLEX project must Read More ›

CID Protest

Chinatown Residents Push Back Against Homeless Megaplex

Chinatown Fights Back Thursday evening, organizers say more than 1000 people attended PROTEST against @kcexec‘s HOMELESS MEGAPLEX in nearby SODO. #CID residents say elected officials DID NOT consult THEM and STILL trying to RAM this through w/out any public input. Put on Blast #Seattle agencies+public officials who supported or looked the other way on this HOMELESS MEGAPLEX. @kcexec@CMTammyMorales@JoeMcDermottWA@cmkshama@MayorofSeattle@Leo_J_Flor@marcformarc@KC_RHA@SeattleCouncil@KCCouncil Cantonese translation included. Seizing Moment Reps @KCGOP@bethsd showed up to support #Chinatown-ID residents. They say Asian American community is FASTEST growing minority voting bloc in USA and WA. I DID NOT see any Democratic party reps. If HOMELESS MEGAPLEX comes in, watch how many go #GOP#Republican. Problematic for Dems Political strategists know Asian American voting bloc is up for grabs. 3rd and Columbia Tents

3rd and Columbia in a Spiral

Nightmare Morning Commute Massive mess on 3rd Ave.& Columbia St. in downtown #Seattle. Biz owners sending me vids of fist fight, open air drug use, tents out of control, and mental illness on full display. I’m tracking situation. Already Warned the City Earlier this month, biz owners at 3rd Ave. & Columbia St. begged @MayorofSeattle @KC_RHA @CMAndrewJLewis to do something about this corner before it spiraled out of control. At the time, there were only 2 tents. This Remains the Challenge What’s the plan to get in front of these encampments before they spiral out of control, not after the fact? It was only 2 tents earlier this month. I’m Only One Guy There have been so many other incidents Read More ›

Seattle’s Unending Drug Crisis

In this great American city, blessed with enormous wealth and natural beauty, a drug crisis is exploding on its streets. Along 3rd Avenue, against the backdrop of Pike Place Market in Seattle’s downtown core, the addicts smoke and inject all kinds of substances in plain sight.  Read More ›
Interurban Trail Trash

Day One of Interurban Trail Begins as Activists Intervene

Happening Now Massive homeless encampment along #Seattle‘s Interurban Trail being cleared after 1 day delay. Neighbors thrilled after complaining about surge in crime related to camp. Already, many homeless refusing shelter options from outreach workers. Stop the Sweeps at it Again: Far-left mutual aid group believes moving homeless people to other neighborhoods is right thing to do, claiming shelter conditions are inhumane. At some point @MayorofSeattle and@KCRHA will have to address this INCONVENIENT TRUTH. What’s Really Happening Past year, been to most of Seattle’s encampment sweeps and have talked to hundreds of homeless people. VAST MAJORITY echo Bruce Drager. Neighbors DM’ing me right now, asking where homeless are heading next. Brief History By all neighbor accounts, Interurban Trail homeless encampment Read More ›

Interurban Trail Sweep Delayed

Well, the signs said it would happen today. But neighbors are telling me it’s now been pushed back to Wed/Thur. Still trying to find out why from city. I am on another assignment anyway, but will head over later to see what’s up. Brief History of Encampment Handful of tents here since beginning of Covid. But neighbors say more people moved in right after Bitter Lake and Woodland Park sweeps a few months ago. Then even more tents popped up after N. 96th sweep.

Seattle’s Homeless Shuffle

It was different this time. When crews arrived in the morning everyone was gone. One of the SDOT officers on scene told me this is the type of compliance they were hoping for. Problem is, some of the RVs simply moved a few hundred yards down to Fairview Avenue. Read More ›

Activists Disrupt Seattle Mayor’s Homelessness Strategy

For the past few months, multiple neighbors and business owners like John Hensley, accused “Stop the Sweeps Seattle” of shuttling homeless people to other neighborhoods across Seattle after homeless encampment clean ups.  “They appear to think their heart is in the right place, but all they’re doing is moving a problem around,” says Hensley, co-owner of Beehive Mercantile in Ballard.  Volunteers with the group call the activity “mutual aid.” The hope to assist homeless people who refuse to take services and shelter from the city.    Like clockwork, they showed up to Tuesday morning’s encampment sweep in SODO and packed several vans with items belonging to the homeless on 3rd Avenue South and South Holgate Street.  This time, I decided to follow Read More ›
